Book one: The Stars Never Rise and Book Two: The Flame Never Dies by Rachel Vincent
Sixteen-year-old Nina Kane should be worrying about her immortal soul, but she’s too busy trying to actually survive. Her town’s population has been decimated by soul-consuming demons, and souls are in short supply. Watching over her younger sister, Mellie, and scraping together food and money is all that matters. The two of them are a family. They gave up on their deadbeat mom a long time ago. When Nina discovers that Mellie is keeping a secret that threatens their very existence, she’ll do anything to protect her. Because in New Temperance, sins are prosecuted as crimes by the brutal Church and its army of black-robed exorcists. And Mellie’s sin has put her in serious trouble.
The Stars Never Rise Duology Series on Goodreads
Categories: Young Adult, Fantasy, Paranormal, Demons, Supernatural, Romance, Science Fiction, and Teen Fiction.
Book one seems to be sad and confusing to me at first as demons and the church were mentioned many times as I was reading which made me draw my own suppositions and conclusions as to how the story will continue. Later in the story, when our heroin met her new friends it got me anxious as to who is “Maddock” and what had happened to him.
Book Two started off as a bit boring for me till our heroin and friends met Eli and his nephew - slowly and piece by piece everything gave into light and secrets unfolded.
overall, the duology series was worth the read and time as it kept me interested and excited to find out what will next.
my rating will be 5/5⭐️ combined and I do 100% recommend it to those who love romance mixed supernaturals !!
