Hello, and I hope you are all staying well.
Finally a book haul post (as it has been a while since I bought a few books).
So it’s Ramadan and spring-ish break rn and I have decided to treat myself to shopping! I tried my best to not buy some books but they went on sale and I caved (sorry not sorry ^^;)
Without any further ado, let’s check out the books.
Stepsister by Jennifer Donnelly
Young Adult and Fiction
‘Isabelle should be blissfully happy – she’s about to win the handsome prince. Except Isabelle isn’t the beautiful girl who lost the glass slipper and captured the prince’s heart. She’s the ugly stepsister who’s cut off her toes to fit into Cinderella’s shoe … which is now filling with blood.
When the prince discovers Isabelle’s deception, she is turned away in shame. It’s no more than she deserves: she is a plain girl in a world that values beauty; a feisty girl in a world that wants her to be pliant. Isabelle has tried to fit in. To live up to her mother’s expectations. To be like her stepsister. To be sweet. To be pretty. One by one, she has cut away pieces of herself in order to survive a world that doesn’t appreciate a girl like her. And that has made her mean, jealous, and hollow.
Until she gets a chance to alter her destiny and prove what ugly stepsisters have always known: it takes more than heartache to break a girl.
Thoughts, when I got this book, is because it was kinda a retelling of Cinderella’s after the main story ending which I LIVE FOR!

K-pop Confidential by Stephan Lee
Young Adult, Contemporary, Fiction
‘Candace Park knows a lot about playing a role. For most of her life, she’s been playing the role of the quiet Korean girl who takes all AP classes and plays a classical instrument, keeping her dreams of stardom and her obsession with SLK, K-pop’s top boyband-to herself. She doesn’t see how a regular girl like her could possibly become one of those K-pop goddesses she sees on YouTube. Even though she can sing. Like, really sing.
So when Candace secretly enters a global audition held by SLK’s music label, the last thing she expects is to actually get a coveted spot in their trainee program. And convincing her strict parents to let her go is all but impossible … although it’s nothing compared to what comes next.
If she doesn’t have what it takes to become a perfect, hair-flipping K-pop idol, what will that mean for her family, who have sacrificed everything to give her the chance? And is a spot in the most hyped K-pop girl group of all time really worth risking her friendships, her future, and everything she believes in?’
thoughts are 1. I love the cover! 2. I wanna try to read contemporary more? And 3. Is that K-pop was on the title and I am a level 10 K-pop fan.

Little Woman by Louisa May Alcott
Young Adult, Fiction, Historical Fiction, and Classic
‘The story follows the lives of the four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—and details their passage from childhood to womanhood. It is loosely based on the lives of the author and her three sisters.’
Thoughts as to why I got this because of the cover (Penguin’s Sisterhood collection for International Woman’s Day) - I mean look at this pretty cover! And I have already read a digital copy and I just wanted a physical copy to add some classics to my tiny shelf.
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Young Adult, Fiction, Historical Fiction, and Classic
‘The plot centers around Mary Lennox, a young English girl who returns to England from India, having suffered the immense trauma of losing both her parents in a cholera epidemic. However, her memories of her parents are not pleasant, as they were a selfish, neglectful, and pleasure-seeking couple. Mary is given to the care of her uncle Archibald Craven, whom she has never met. She travels to his home, Misselthwaite Manor located in gloomy Yorkshire, a vast change from the sunny and warm climate she was used to. When she arrives, she is rude, stubborn, and gives stormy temper tantrums. However, her nature undergoes a gradual transformation when she learns of the tragedies that have befallen her strict and disciplinarian uncle whom she earlier feared and despised. Once when he’s away from home, Mary discovers a charming walled garden that is always kept locked. The mystery deepens when she hears sounds of sobbing from somewhere within her uncle’s vast mansion. The kindly servants ignore her queries or pretend they haven’t heard, spiking Mary’s curiosity.’
I did too have digitally read this and I saw this cover and thought that I must own it!

honestly, got bought those books as I did not want to miss out on the offer (buy 3 and get one free only English book) as Virgin Megastore also sells Arabic books and my goal was to buy tarot cards but sadly, they no longer offer them.
I think I will start to re-read the classics and then start again on the series, how about you? what are you currently or your next read will be?
