Books are expected to pile up on birthdays! So happy birthday to me and got myself more books and nowhere to stack them… after a long wait, I have got:
—
Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber
Categories: Young Adult, Fiction, and Fantasy Romance.
‘For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings…until she learns that the love of her life will marry another. Desperate to stop the wedding and to heal her wounded heart, Evangeline strikes a deal with the charismatic but wicked Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing.’
along await book and am so excited to read and dive into it!
-
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Categories: Young Adult, Fiction, and Paranormal.
'To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences. As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.’
this is the most recommended book so I got it (not the most of valid reason).
-
If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio
Categories: Adult, Contemporary, Mystery, Thriller Crime, and LGBT.
'Oliver Marks has just served ten years in jail - for a murder he may or may not have committed. On the day he’s released, he’s greeted by the man who put him in prison. Detective Colborne is retiring, but before he does, he wants to know what really happened a decade ago.’
⭐4/5; it got boring at some parts but overall, it was an excellent novel!
-
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Categories: Adult, Historical Fiction, and Classic.
'The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.’
⭐4/5; it got boring - although the plot was fantastic, I finished.

Categories: Young adult, dystopia, fairy tales, and retellings.
'The universe of the Lunar Chronicles holds stories—and secrets—that are wondrous, vicious, and romantic. How did Cinder first arrive in New Beijing? How did the brooding soldier Wolf transform from a young man to a killer? When did Princess Winter and the palace guard Jacin realize their destinies? With nine stories—five of which have never before been published—and an excerpt from Marissa Meyer’s novel, Heartless, about the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, Stars Above is essential for fans of the bestselling and beloved Lunar Chronicles.’

Categories: Young adult, dystopia, fairy tales, and retellings.
'Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who is the Fairest of them all? Pure evil has a name, hides behind a mask of deceit, and uses her “glamour” to gain power. But who is Queen Levana? Long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress in The Lunar Chronicles, Levana lived a very different story–a story that has never been told … until now.’
I have read this and honestly, it was not what I expected, I have posted a review of this - here 'Fairest and Baddest’!
-
Mal’s Spell Book by Tina McLeef
Categories: Young adult, dystopia, fairy tales, and retellings.
'The spell book you hold in your hand once belonged to my mother, Malefica. She entrusted it to me to help her destroy Auradon, and it is full of enchantments, devilish vows, and magic tricks. But my friends and I used it to do things our way.
It is said that the chip does not jump far from the trunk. Well, it remains to be seen!’
⭐3.5/5; too short!
-
Beasts and Beauty by Soman Chainani
Categories: Young adult, dystopia, fairy tales, and retellings.
'Twelve tales, twelve dangerous tales of mystery, magic, and rebellious hearts. Each twist like a spindle to reveal truths full of warning and triumph, truths that capture hearts long kept tame and set them free, truths that explore life … and death.’

buying books brings me more joy today than it used to before I got into reading (a few books listed have been rated while the rest are still on TBR). Also, I have posted a TikTok video unbagging? or unpacking those books - watch it here!
